The Accountability Rule is direct: AI is a tool — not a decision-maker. You remain accountable for everything AI produces that you submit, publish, or deploy.

Generative AI creates output with remarkable speed and confidence. It can also be confidently, fluently, and completely wrong. It can invent legal cases that don’t exist, write code that runs cleanly but opens a security vulnerability, and generate regulatory citations that sound authoritative but have no basis in actual law.

The speed that makes AI useful is also the mechanism that makes it dangerous in the hands of an employee who trusts the output without reviewing it. This module teaches the verification habits that responsible AI use requires.

Why C is correct: AI frequently invents regulatory citations that do not exist — with correct formatting, plausible names, and coherent summaries. The issue is existence and currency, not spelling. Always verify from official sources before any citation appears in a document or decision.

Course Framework — Regulatory Accountability Standards

The course covers the human-in-the-loop standard required by the major AI regulatory frameworks — and what it means practically for employees who use AI to produce work that informs decisions, gets submitted externally, or is deployed in live systems. These frameworks do not recognize “the AI told me” as a defense.
